Five Interesting Facts about IAIN Salatiga That You Should Know

KABARBARU, SALATIGA – IAIN Salatiga is a campus transformed from the former Faculty of Education IKIP NU Salatiga, Faculty of Tarbiyah IAIN Walisongo, STAIN, and IAIN. It is currently in the process of transitioning to UIN. Although getting to UIN, not a few local people still know IAIN Salatiga as a STAIN campus. Therefore, it is necessary for a more profound introduction to the IAIN Salatiga campus.
Many exciting facts related to the campus are surrounded by beautiful views of Mount Merbabu, Telomoyo, and Andong. There are at least five interesting facts about IAIN Salatiga, including the following:
- Located in Three Places
Many people know IAIN Salatiga only from Campus III, located on Jl. Salatiga Circle, Pulutan, Sidorejo, Salatiga City. The administrative center and the entry and the exit of visiting guests are situated.
However, IAIN Salatiga also has a Campus II which is located on Jl. Nakula Sahadeva V Number. 9, Kembangarum, Sidomukti and Campus I on Jl. Student Army Number 2, Salatiga City.
- Has 5 Faculties
IAIN Salatiga has five faculties; Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business, Faculty of Sharia/Law, and Faculty of Ushuludin on Campus I, Faculty of Adab and Humanities on campus II, and Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training the Faculty of Da’wah on campus III.
3. Alumni Become Minister
Muhammad Hanif Dhakiri is an alumnus of IAIN Salatiga who, in the Jokowi-JK “Work Cabinet,” served as the Minister of Manpower. Jokowi carried out the determination of the alumni of IAIN Salatiga at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on October 26, 2014.
The alumnus of IAIN Salatiga has also been a member of the DPD RI for the 2009-2014 period from PKB representing Central Java, especially the Batang Regency, Pekalongan Regency, Pekalongan City and Pemalang Regency. He served on Commission X of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, which deals with issues of education, sports, tourism, arts, and culture.
4. World Class Journal
IJIMS (Indonesian Journal of Islam and Muslim Societies) is one of the journals belonging to IAIN Salatiga in the Graduate Program of IAIN Salatiga. For now, IJIMS has been indexed by Scopus Q1, Crossref, Copernicus Index, Islamicus Index, and many more. In addition, IJIMS has received national accreditation (A) from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
2011 was the year for the establishment of IJIMS. After 3 years, in 2014, IJIMS was immediately accredited A from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (formerly the Ministry of Education and Culture). From there, the manager has a clear roadmap. His vision is not only a journal that is recognized nationally but also must be recognized internationally. At that time, journals began to be written in English.
In 2016, precisely in April, the management submitted it to Scopus. On August 13, 2017, the Scopus index was finally accepted. After Scopus appeared, to enter Schimago, it took another year. On June 1, 2019, the journal IJIMS was entered at Scimago. Scimago is one of the institutions that issue rankings for worldwide journals.
- Soon to be UIN
On March 10, 2021, the Rector of IAIN Salatiga, Prof. Dr. Zakiyyudin Baidhawy, said that 90 percent of the campus he leads are ready to switch status to become a university. Even on the official website and social media, the hashtag #RoadToUINSalatiga continues to be echoed, which means the IAIN campus is ready to change its status to UIN. Well, that’s an interesting fact that the public or prospective new students need to know. Apart from all that, IAIN Salatiga continues to improve itself to become a reference for Indonesian Islamic studies in 2030.
